Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. When she was a kid she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma's goal was to be an actor. At the age of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons on singing, acting, as well as dancing. At the age of ten the actress took part in and performed the main role in a number of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. The casting process began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The film set records for beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. Critics have praised both the film as well as the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British publication, has praised Emma for her exceptional performance. Emma later won five awards to honor her role in the film.
